Butcombe House, Clifton College

Butcombe House, one of Clifton College's properties in Clifton, Bristol is a grade 2 Listed Building. Aztech Building Services Ltd won a competitive tender to construct a basement children's play area.

The first challenge on the project was to ensure that the new ground levels were correct. This entailed a reduced dig of aproximately 4m and all relevant temporary works associated with this element.

The second challenge was to ensure that the play area was constructed to meet listed building consent. Materials were carefully sourced to ensure compliance, and tight control over build quality was implemented.

A high level of communication with all interested parties was essential as the project progressed, so that all stakeholders were aware of what was in hand, future events, and to ensure that all needs were catered for. Everyone involved was extremely pleased with the end result which blends seamlessly into the existing building.

As with all our projects, this was completed on time, to budget, to the highest quality and Health & Safety standards.
