Bristol Airport is an ever-expanding organisation and has been very successful in attracting new business and increasing customers in today's hectic travelling society. To this end the airport has been expanding and in 2005 a new terminal was opened. The old terminal became the main offices for all the management staff, although initially little work was undertaken to upgrade the existing facilties.
Aztech Building Services Ltd won a competitive tender to refurbish the offices and undertake works to restructure the layout, relocating key staff including the CEO and a number of the directors. Programme was crucial on this project as were the implications of working in a live airport and undertaking work "air-side".
Work included plasterboard partitions, demountable walls, strip-out work, air-conditioning, electrical & IT installation, carpentry, decoration, and flooring.
Regular management meetings were held on-site to ensure that all stakeholders were aware of moves and construction work, and were happy with the overall plan. Liaison with Bristol Airports IT team was critical to ensure continuity of IT systems when moves and new works were taking place. The project ran extremely smoothly and all deadlines were met.
There were no Health & Safety issues and the airport was extremely pleased with how our operatives conducted themselves when undertaking work "air-side". We are looking at future projects with Bristol International Airport.
